Snowstorm Saga

EPIC SNOWSTORM HITS WASHINGTON DC
Saga of a Stranded Traveller

FRIDAY: The first night it snowed... it was a magical place, full of enchantment and mischief.  We walked six blocks to dinner and it snowed five inches in the time we were gone.  We had fun playing in the snow - snowball fights and snowmen.  Taking in the beauty of the trees heavily laden with snow.

SATURDAY:  Carried my luggage through the snow from the hotel to the other side of the Chinatown Gate.  The bustle of a street normally busy with passing traffic is silenced and only a few are brave enough to even walk around.  The city is frozen in time - overnight.

SUNDAY: Snuck up to the Capitol Mall to take pictures and see what there was to see.  Constitution Avenue which is normally packed with four lanes of traffic is whittled down to a single lane and pedestrians take over.  Government freezes and shuts down for three and a half days... with more snow on the way.

MONDAY:  The saga finally ends when my flight (only 25 hours and 15 minutes late) lands in Saint Paul - on the brink of a snowstorm of our own.  Looking out of the airplane window, the runway is completely covered and there is barely two plane lengths of visibility.  I was somehow blesssed to have been on the only Delta flight from DC to MSP because all the flights before and after were cancelled.

Home at last, home at last.

Photo-etic (photogenic + poetic) reminiscent of times past with the effortless contribution of mother nature and folly of good friends to bestow a memory shared through time and space. An heir established to recall for all moments they too shared with a similar photoetic display.
