Evey had little "bites" cropping up on her arms and legs at the end of last week - they looked like mosquito or spider bites! She didn't seem phased by the bites - wasn't scratching them and was in her usual good spirits. Daycare thought they kind of looked like either Chicken pox or spider bites but since she only had bites on her arms, legs and face we weren't sure it sounded like chicken pox. I called the nurse help line and her doctors office and they all assured me not to be too overly worried since she didn't have other symptoms (no fever, difficulty breathing etc).
After picking her up from daycare Monday I must have had a moment of motherly intuition because she was still developing a few more "bites" and she was crabby... not normal!
I brought her in to Urgent Care Monday night - waited for TWO HOURS (that is another story... two hours wait with an appointment is excessive) to see a doctor. She had just falled asleep (it was her bedtime) when the doctor finally came in. He confirmed that it looked like chicken pox and she had a very low grade fever as well. His instructions were to keep her comfortable, let her sleep and eat as much as she could and to stay home with her until she stops developing the little break outs.
Makes sense... we were happy to learn what the "bites" were - fearing the worst, alas, chicken pox isn't so bad. She's continued to be a champ and only developed a higher fever last night. Still watching how she's doing and enjoying a day home with Evelyn!!
