We were at Gma and Gpa Sullivan's house for Sunday BBQ this past weekend. It was wonderful to enjoy a beautiful spring evening out on the patio!
When I brough Evelyn inside to change her diaper, she headed for the stairs and climbed her way up to her cousin's bedroom. She wanted to play with the kitchen set! For the next 45 minutes, I watched in awe as Evelyn was focused on make-believe play and she chattered the whole time! The food and other random objects were transferred back and forth between the refrigerator and the stove. Evelyn would "wash" her hands at the sink, using a piece of cloth as a wash cloth and mimicing the sound of water. Then back to the stove to pull an object out.
At one point, I found two baby dollies for Evey to play with and asked her to feed the baby. She started by setting the baby on the counter to watch and then walked back and forth between the other dolly and the kitchen set holding baby #1 on her hip. She set both babies down on a chair to feed them. At one point, Evey said "wawawa" as if the baby was crying and proceeded to comfort the baby by putting her finger in the baby's mouth. At other times, she would sing to the baby - all while "cooking" in the kitchen.
I think it's time to find a kitchen play set for Evelyn to have at home - I'm on the look-out for a wooden kitchen set. I am suprised that she is already ready for make-believe play!!
