So alert and playful!

It's so amazing to watch Evelyn take in new things. She has become so alert and interested in her surroundings. She is purposeful in her movements. She reaches for a specific toy, mommy's cell phone or her nuk - not because it's an object to reach for but because that is what she wants!

She was fussing a little this morning so I stood her up and let her look out the window. She was fascinated - watching the leaves move in the trees and the birds fly by. Then her attention moved to the operable window mechanism... oh, so interesting! She was focused on this for quite some time. How does it move? What does it feel like?

She can play on her own for longer periods of time... totally engrossed in the dangling shapes or the array of colored blocks. She has a set of stacking/sorting blocks now and will grab one or two at a time. Initially, they go to the mouth and then they become instruments of play and fascination. Bam, bam... clack, clack.

We walk down the hallway from her bedroom to the downstairs and she reaches out for the wall hangings. Twisting and reaching and craning her neck around to follow what has caught her attention!

Dogs!!! They bring on an immediate, full mouth smile! Oh, those fuzzy, furry creatures... just as playful and inquisitive as she is. An immediate bond.
